About India VIX

30 Jul 2026

What is India VIX?

India VIX is the National Stock Exchange’s volatility index. It measures the volatility the market expects in the Nifty 50 over the next 30 calendar days, computed by NSE from the order book of near- and next-month Nifty 50 index options using the CBOE VIX methodology. It is quoted in annualised percentage points rather than index points and has no constituent stocks, so it is read as a level of expected volatility — higher means the option market is pricing wider moves.

What was the last close and 52-week range for India VIX?
